Charming Spanish Micro Villages to enjoy this summer of local tourism in our country

This year it is the summer of local tourism in Spain, that is why we present you five micro towns with a lot of charm and whose population fits in a movie theater.

  1. Masca (Tenerife)

Masca is a hamlet belonging to the municipality of Buenavista del Norte de Tenerife. With only 97 inhabitants, it is located on the northwest tip of the island in the Teno Massif, within the rural park of the same name, eleven kilometers from the urban area of Buenavista del Norte and at an average altitude of 750 meters above sea level.

2. Mazonovo (Asturias)

The village of Mazonovo is a population unit belonging to Taramundi. It is located in the council of Taramundi, in the Principality of Asturias, just 250 m from the capital of the council. Its mill museum is an essential place to see in Asturias. According to its census, it has only four inhabitants.

3. Piornedo (Lugo)

Piornedo is a small village in the Sierra de los Ancares, at an altitude of 1,100 meters. It is part of the Donis parish, Cervantes municipality, in the Os Ancares region, in the province of Lugo, autonomous community of Galicia, in Spain. Its population is only 47 inhabitants.

4. Patones de Arriba (Madrid)

The medieval town of Patones de Arriba (with only 20 inhabitants) located in the northeast of Madrid, is famous for its black slate houses and winding streets. The mountain is full of stone ruins from the old shepherd’s huts. Near the town are the Reguerillo cave, an archaeological site, and the ruins of the Pontón de la Oliva and the hermitage of the Virgen de la Oliva.

5. Lanuza (Huesca)

Lanuza is a Spanish town belonging to the municipality of Sallent de Gállego, in Alto Gállego, province of Huesca, Aragon. It is located in the heart of the Pyrenees, on the left bank of the swamp to which it gives its name, where the waters of the Gállego river are dammed. It only has 38 inhabitants.
